Annapurna Expedition Update

The strong spindrift was draining the energy away out of our bodies and out of our minds while climbing today to establish Camp 2, at 5.700m altitude. This combined with high avalanche risk made us retreat from middle way between Camp 1 (5.100m, we spent yesterday night there) and Camp 2. Anyhow, it was a good team effort. Now safely back down to Base Camp, at 4.200m. It seems that all the winds of the Himalayas gathered atop of Annapurna. Since the day we arrived here, the snow from the summit area is ceaselessly blown away 300m above into the sky. A most impressive and humbling sight but any summit attempt can only be done in a proper enough weather window, if any.
